The firm is also planning to apply for a similar license in its native Singapore, as well as Luxembourg.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/05\/21\/hong-kong-joins-global-race-with-new-stablecoin-licensing-bill\">establishing a stablecoin regime since 2023<\/a>, with the legislation expected to go into effect in August.<\/p>\n<p>Stablecoins are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/learn\/what-is-a-stablecoin\">tokens pegged<\/a> to the value of a traditional financial asset, such as a fiat currency, providing a counterweight to the volatility of BTC, ETH and other cryptos. <\/p>\n<p>As such they may represent an entry point to the digital asset market for major financial or technological companies.
