Borrowers can use stETH as collateral for credit lines underwritten by Maple\u2019s in-house credit team, according to a press release. Lido\u2019s stETH is a liquid version of staked ETH that can be put to work in decentralized finance (DeFi), while still earning rewards from staking.<\/p>\n<p>Restaking \u2013 the idea of using a blockchain to secure other apps \u2013 has quickly become a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2024\/02\/20\/liquid-restaking-tokens-or-lrts-revived-ethereum-defi-can-the-hype-last\/\">new investment trend<\/a> in crypto. Lido, an Ethereum staking stalwart, has been busy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/tech\/2024\/05\/14\/lido-co-founders-paradigm-secretly-back-eigenlayer-competitor-as-defi-battle-lines-form\/\">forging partnerships <\/a>to bring return Lido\u2019s stETH to center stage.<\/p>\n<p>Maple, with over $1.8 billion of assets on its platform, has been on a tear of late, working with Wall Street firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/05\/27\/wall-street-giant-cantor-debuts-bitcoin-lending-business-with-first-tranches-to-falconx-maple\">Cantor Fitzgerald<\/a> to do bitcoin-backed loans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership formalizes a growing demand from institutions already using stETH in their capital strategies,\u201d said Sid Powell, CEO and Co-Founder of Maple. \u201cBy enabling loans backed by stETH, we\u2019re making it easier for institutions to access liquidity while keeping their core assets staked and productive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The offering serves a range of institutional use cases including treasury runway extension, conservative leverage trading, and short-term working capital, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cryptocurrency lending firm Maple Finance has partnered with crypto staking specialist Lido Finance to offer stablecoin credit lines backed by collateral in the form of Lido\u2019s liquid staking token (stETH), the companies said on Thursday.
