{"id":31748,"date":"2025-06-13T14:18:28","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T14:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=31748"},"modified":"2025-06-13T14:18:28","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T14:18:28","slug":"cardanos-charles-hoskinson-suggests-swapping-100m-of-ada-for-bitcoin-stablecoins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=31748","title":{"rendered":"Cardano&#8217;s Charles Hoskinson Suggests Swapping $100M of ADA for Bitcoin, Stablecoins"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson has floated the idea of converting $100 million worth of ADA tokens into bitcoin BTC and stablecoins.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We could take $100 million of ADA in the treasury, convert it to a blend of stablecoins incumbent in Cardano so USDM and USDA and convert some of it in bitcoin to prime bitcoin DeFi,&#8221; Hoskinson said on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-sOI_yaMQV4&amp;ab_channel=CharlesHoskinson\">a YouTube live stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He then hit back at critics that claimed a $100 million sale would impact the price of ADA, calling them &#8220;inexperienced&#8221; before adding that the sale &#8220;would not cause any problems at all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the sale would be getting the ratio of stablecoin issuance and TVL to around 30% to 40% versus the current roughly 10%.<\/p>\n<p>Total value locked on Cardano stands at $356 million with just $31 million worth of stablecoins minted on-chain, DefiLlama <a href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/stablecoins\/chains\">data shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Solana meanwhile has $9.8 billion in TVL and $11 billion worth of stablecoins minted on-chain.<\/p>\n<p>In a tweet Hoskinson said that the stablecoin situation is &#8220;killing Cardano&#8221; and that the proposal would generate  &#8220;non-inflationary revenue&#8221; and help build the Cardano DeFi economy.<\/p>\n<p>Hoskinson&#8217;s comments are at odds with those of Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/03\/11\/cardano-deep-dive-into-one-of-trump-s-reserve-tokens-and-a-blockchain-that-ignores-tvl\">told CoinDesk<\/a> in March that TVL is not a metric he used for adoption.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson has floated the idea of converting $100 million worth of ADA tokens into bitcoin BTC and stablecoins. &#8220;We could take $100 million of ADA in the treasury, convert it to a blend of stablecoins incumbent in Cardano so USDM and USDA and convert some of it in bitcoin to prime bitcoin [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"iawp_total_views":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[3,4,5],"class_list":["post-31748","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-crypto","tag-doge","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31748","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=31748"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/31748\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=31748"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=31748"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=31748"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
