Now, every capital gain from digital assets faces a 17.5% levy.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Flat Tax Applies To All Investors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to local reports, <a href=\"https:\/\/menafn.com\/1109676144\/Brazil-Introduces-175-Tax-On-Crypto-Gains-Ending-Exemption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the new rule <\/a>ends the exemption and treats all traders the same. Small\u2011scale sellers who once paid nothing now owe 17.5% on every gain. Big players could actually save money. Before, anyone moving more than R$30\u202fmillion in a month hit a 22.5% top rate. Now they pay just 17.5%.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Small Traders Face Bigger Bills<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Based on <a href=\"https:\/\/portaldobitcoin.uol.com.br\/governo-derruba-isencao-sobre-lucros-com-criptomoedas-e-fixa-imposto-de-175\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reports<\/a> from Portal do Bitcoin, someone who sold R$30,000 in crypto last month would have owed zero under the old law. Under the new flat rate, that person now owes R$5,250. But those above R$30\u202fmillion save up to R$150,000 per R$1\u202fmillion traded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quarterly Reporting And Losses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Crypto<\/a> holdings held in self\u2011custody wallets or abroad did not escape this overhaul. All gains are tallied every three months. Investors can offset losses from the previous five quarters.<\/p>\n<p>After 2025, that window shrinks. From January\u202f2026 onward, only losses within the last few quarters will count. Traders will need better record\u2011keeping and careful timing.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/x\/D8wLi1GW\/\" width=\"1835\" height=\"884\"><br \/>\n<strong>Other Assets And Betting Targeted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This measure isn\u2019t limited to crypto. Fixed\u2011income papers like LCAs, LCIs, CRIs and CRAs now carry a 5% profit tax. Betting operators saw their rate jump from 12% to 18%. The ministry won\u2019t say how much extra cash it expects.<\/p>\n<p>But lawmakers want a steadier flow after a failed attempt to raise the Financial Transaction Tax, which was pulled amid strong market and congressional pushback.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in parallel, a separate bill would let employers pay part of a salary in crypto, capped at 50%. Full crypto pay would only be allowed for foreign staff or contractors under strict rules.<\/p>\n<p>Wages for standard workers must stay in fiat. Contractors could opt for 100% crypto if both sides agree.
