Their ultimate goal is to access your funds, bypassing Binance\u2019s real verification systems using stolen data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Criminals send QR codes via WhatsApp, Telegram, or Facebook, claiming they\u2019re for \u201crewards\u201d or \u201cupdates.\u201d Scanning these codes logs them into your Binance account instantly,\u201d the alert <a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/blog\/security\/scanned-and-scammed-understanding-the-face-and-qr-cons-3598096860368876071?ref=AZTKZ9XS&amp;utm_source=BinanceTwitter&amp;utm_medium=GlobalSocial&amp;utm_campaign=GlobalSocial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reads<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The exchange stated that anyone can fall for the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">aforementioned scams<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">; however, users on popular social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook, appear to be prime targets. It also cautioned that areas with high rates of device theft, like crowded cities, are particularly vulnerable \u2013 especially when phones are not locked down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Binance assured that its teams are constantly on the lookout for such threats, but in the end, it\u2019s up to the users to stay away from such dangers. It urged people to trust only official channels, stating that anything else is likely a scam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Other Recent Threats<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Binance claims to have <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/square\/post\/05-28-2025-binance-surpasses-275-million-registered-users-cementing-position-as-global-crypto-leader-24847171598161?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">surpassed<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a user base of 275 million people, a scale that may help explain why its community is such a frequent target for wrongdoers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Earlier this year, some users <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/binance-users-targeted-in-latest-sms-spoofing-scam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reported<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> falling victim to an SMS spoofing attack. Specifically, people received messages that appeared to come from the same Binance number, where they typically got verification codes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The SMS insisted that their accounts had been accessed from North Korea, instructing them to set up a dubious wallet and transfer all their funds there.
