Metaplanet, a Tokyo\u2011listed company often called Japan\u2019s \u2018Strategy,\u2019 has just raised $210\u202fmillion in zero\u2011interest bonds to add more Bitcoin to its treasury. The board signed off on the 18th series of ordinary bonds on Monday.<\/p>\n

Those notes, bought only by the Cayman Islands firm Evo Fund, come with an early\u2011redemption option and mature on December\u202f12,\u202f2025. According to public filings, every dollar collected will go straight into more BTC.<\/p>\n

Bond Issue For Bitcoin Buy<\/h2>\n

Metaplanet<\/a> tapped debt markets for the fresh funds without taking on any interest costs. That move shows strong confidence in Bitcoin\u2019s outlook.<\/p>\n

The bonds sit alongside earlier issues that have funded past coin purchases. With no coupons to pay, Metaplanet can use every cent of the $210\u202fmillion for crypto.<\/p>\n

Based on reports from Bitcoin Treasuries<\/a>, Metaplanet now holds nearly 8,890 BTC. This round added 1,088 coins at recent market rates. At today\u2019s prices, that stash is almost $450\u202fmillion.<\/p>\n

The firm\u2019s balance sheet is turning into a crypto playbook. It follows the strategy championed by Michael Saylor\u2019s company, Strategy<\/a>, which first inspired this approach.<\/p>\n

Market Reaction And Risks<\/p>\n

Investors have piled into Metaplanet stock over the past year, sending shares up more than 4,500%. Yet hedge funds have made it the most\u2011shorted stock in Japan.<\/p>\n

Short sellers are betting on a Bitcoin<\/a> fall or a shift in global interest rates that could change bond markets. If big swings hit BTC prices, Metaplanet could face pressure on both its debt and equity fronts.<\/p>\n
