{"id":33182,"date":"2025-06-23T13:02:07","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T13:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33182"},"modified":"2025-06-23T13:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T13:02:07","slug":"5g-chipmaker-sequans-joins-the-bitcoin-treasury-strategy-rush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33182","title":{"rendered":"5G Chipmaker Sequans Joins the Bitcoin Treasury Strategy Rush"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Telecommunication company Sequans (NYSE:SQNS) has announced that it will raise $384 million to launch a bitcoin treasury, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/sequans.com\/press-release\/sequans-announces-384m-strategic-investment-to-launch-bitcoin-treasury-initiative\/\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company has agreed to issue and sell $195 million in equity securities and $189 million in convertible secured debentures. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur bitcoin treasury strategy reflects our strong conviction in bitcoin as a premier asset and a compelling long-term investment,\u201d said Georges Karam, CEO of Sequans.<\/p>\n<p>Sequans selected U.S.-based bitcoin-only financial services firm Swan Bitcoin as a partner to assist with its treasury strategy.<\/p>\n<p>SQNS shares are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasdaq.com\/market-activity\/stocks\/sqns\">up 14% in pre-market trading<\/a>, changing hands at $2.21 per share.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to adopt a bitcoin treasury follows in the footsteps of several publicly-listed companies of late, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/06\/18\/healthcare-firm-prenetics-uses-kraken-to-kickoff-bitcoin-treasury\">healthcare<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/06\/12\/mercurity-fintech-plans-800m-bitcoin-treasury-eyes-russell-2000-inclusion\">mining<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/05\/28\/gamestop-purchases-over-usd500m-worth-of-bitcoin\">media companies<\/a> all acquiring bitcoin in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin is currently trading at about $101,000, modestly bouncing from its panicky decline over the weekend following the U.S. strikes against Iran.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telecommunication company Sequans (NYSE:SQNS) has announced that it will raise $384 million to launch a bitcoin treasury, according to a press release.
