{"id":33456,"date":"2025-06-24T15:47:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T15:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33456"},"modified":"2025-06-24T15:47:00","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T15:47:00","slug":"feds-powell-reiterates-patience-on-rates-in-congressional-testimony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33456","title":{"rendered":"Fed&#8217;s Powell Reiterates Patience on Rates in Congressional Testimony"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell offered little change in stance from his recent remarks, reiterating that the economy is in a good spot, giving the central bank the room to be patient before considering easing monetary policy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For the time being, we are well positioned to wait to learn more about the likely course of the economy before considering any adjustments to our policy stance,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/newsevents\/testimony\/powell20250624a.htm\">said Powell in prepared remarks <\/a>for his semiannual monetary policy report to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s testimony is of particular note given talks this week from Fed Governors Chris Waller and Michelle Bowman. Both said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/23\/fed-governor-bowman-favors-july-interest-rate-cut-if-inflation-stays-low.html\">they would be supportive <\/a>of a rate cut at the Fed&#8217;s next meeting. To date, Powell has given no indication that he is considering such a move.<\/p>\n<p>The break with Powell \u2014 by itself, not necessarily major news \u2014 comes as President Trump continues to make clear his displeasure with the Fed chairman&#8217;s reluctance to ease monetary policy.<\/p>\n<p>Rate cuts odds for July continue to be fairly slim at just 18.6%, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmegroup.com\/markets\/interest-rates\/cme-fedwatch-tool.html\">according to CME FedWatch<\/a>.
