{"id":33647,"date":"2025-06-25T14:02:04","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T14:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33647"},"modified":"2025-06-25T14:02:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T14:02:04","slug":"tokenized-shares-in-elon-musks-spacex-coming-from-republic-wsj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33647","title":{"rendered":"Tokenized Shares in Elon Musk&#8217;s SpaceX Coming From Republic: WSJ"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Investment firm Republic is set to let retail investors gain exposure to one of tech\u2019s most coveted startups, Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this week, the platform plans to sell blockchain-based rSpaceX tokens, whose value is set to track the value of the privately-held SpaceX, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/finance\/investing\/republic-investing-tokens-companies-ipo-ccff7f91?mod=hp_lead_pos5\">reports the WSJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each rSpaceX token is a promissory note issued under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/resources-small-businesses\/exempt-offerings\/regulation-crowdfunding\">Regulation Crowdfunding<\/a>, a provision in the 2012 JOBS Act that allows small securities sales to retail buyers.<\/p>\n<p>Holders of the rSpaceX token won&#8217;t be shareholders in the company, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/12\/11\/spacex-valuation-surges-to-350-billion-as-company-buys-back-stock.html\">valued at $350 billio<\/a>n in December last year, but would participate in price action of the shares.<\/p>\n<p>Republic is known for offering retail investors access to investments typically otherwise off-limits. Its future token launches could include notes on shares of OpenAI and Anthropic, according to the WSJ report.<\/p>\n<p>Permission from SpaceX or other firms isn\u2019t necessary as the tokens represent securities sold by Republic itself, said Republic CEO Kendrick Nguyen.<\/p>\n<p>Investors will be able to trade the tokens on INX, an exchange Republic is in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/04\/03\/investment-firm-republic-to-acquire-crypto-trader-inx-digital-for-up-to-usd60m\">the process of acquiring<\/a>. There is, however, a one-year holding period.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects in the crypto sector are also looking to offer retail investors access to investments previously reserved for high-net-worth individuals.
