{"id":33799,"date":"2025-06-26T09:17:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T09:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33799"},"modified":"2025-06-26T09:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T09:17:08","slug":"australias-securities-regulator-to-probe-asx-after-collapsed-blockchain-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=33799","title":{"rendered":"Australia\u2019s Securities Regulator to Probe ASX After Collapsed Blockchain Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Australia\u2019s Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) has turned to three of the country\u2019s most seasoned finance figures to probe the inner workings of the Australian Securities Exchange, including the exchange&#8217;s doomed blockchain project.<\/p>\n<p>ASIC launched the inquiry on June 16 over \u201congoing concerns\u201d it and the Reserve Bank of Australia expressed about the exchange\u2019s ability to run stable and secure market plumbing.<\/p>\n<p>Those concerns intensified when ASX scrapped a blockchain-based upgrade to its CHESS settlement engine in 2022, forcing a costly reset and drawing political heat. ASIC later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2024\/08\/14\/australias-securities-regulator-sues-asx-for-misleading-statements-about-blockchain-project\">sued ASX <\/a>over making misleading statements on the project.<\/p>\n<p>Rob Whitfield, a former Westpac chief risk officer and now a Commonwealth Bank director, will chair ASIC&#8217;s panel.
