Trading in bitcoin or other volatile tokens is not on its roadmap, according to the story.<\/p>\n<p>Europe\u2019s clearer rules are nudging banks on the continent into the crypto space. Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy\u2019s largest bank, opened a spot bitcoin desk in January alongside a \u20ac1 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/finance\/italys-intesa-buys-1-mln-euros-bitcoin-first-proprietary-trade-2025-01-14\/#:~:text=MILAN%2C%20Jan%2014%20(Reuters),described%20as%20%22a%20test%22.\">investment in the cryptocurrency.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UniCredit, another Italian bank, is planning a capital-protected note linked to BlackRock\u2019s spot bitcoin ETF IBIT, while French banking giant Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/06\/10\/socgen-s-crypto-arm-unveils-dollar-stablecoin-on-ethereum-and-solana\">launching a dollar-backed stablecoin<\/a> two years after introducing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2023\/04\/20\/societe-generales-crypto-division-introduces-euro-stablecoin-on-ethereum\">euro-backed stablecoin.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Banca Sella, an Italian banking group known for tech experiments, has begun an internal trial that lets a handful of employees hold crypto, including stablecoins, through custody software from Fireblocks.
