Ripple issues the $440 million RLUSD stablecoin regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), and also provides <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2024\/10\/10\/ripple-expands-custody-business-to-offer-bank-grade-service-to-crypto-firms\">digital asset custody services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal first reported the news earlier on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>XRP XRP, the native cryptocurrency of the payments-focused XRP Ledger network, advanced 3% on the news.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple&#8217;s application comes after USDC issuer firm Circle (CRCL) also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2025\/06\/30\/circle-applies-for-national-trust-bank-charter\">filed<\/a> for a similar license earlier this week, a sign that stablecoin companies are seeking federal oversight as U.S. legislation to regulate stablecoins and crypto market structure advances.
