{"id":35856,"date":"2025-07-09T05:17:24","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T05:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=35856"},"modified":"2025-07-09T05:17:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T05:17:24","slug":"ethereum-is-becoming-what-treasuries-are-to-traditional-finance-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=35856","title":{"rendered":"Ethereum Is Becoming What Treasuries Are to Traditional Finance: Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>\u201cStablecoins are spreading the dollar faster than any financial tech in history,\u201d said Electric Capital General Partner Maria Shen on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEthereum is becoming the financial backbone,\u201d she added, referencing a newly published research <a href=\"https:\/\/electriccapital.substack.com\/p\/beyond-stablecoins-the-case-for-ethereum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">report<\/a> on stablecoin demand for Ethereum\u2019s tenth birthday.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, anyone across the globe can hold US dollars via stablecoins, which will drive demand, in turn benefiting Ethereum.<\/p>\n<h2>The Primary Settlement Layer<\/h2>\n<p>Despite talk of \u201cde-dollarization,\u201d the global demand for US dollars is booming, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitcoin-and-jpmorgan-will-soar-on-the-back-of-big-bank-stablecoins-hayes\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">especially via stablecoins<\/a>, which now exceed $260 billion in total market capitalization.<\/p>\n<p>This is unlocking dollar access for billions, especially in emerging markets. More than four billion people and millions of businesses are actively seeking dollar access through stablecoins, the researchers noted.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Stablecoins are spreading the dollar faster than any financial tech in history.<\/p>\n<p>And Ethereum is becoming the financial backbone.<\/p>\n<p>For Ethereum\u2019s 10th birthday, we\u2019re publishing our updated <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElectricCapital?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">@ElectricCapital<\/a> ETH thesis:<\/p>\n<p>Remaking the Case for ETH<\/p>\n<p>1\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Rr9mSrK0GS\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/Rr9mSrK0GS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 mariaa.eth (@MariaShen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MariaShen\/status\/1942658782439395815?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">July 8, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>However, this burgeoning market of new dollar holders wants more than just digital cash.\u00a0They <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/does-ethereum-have-an-advantage-over-bitcoin-for-corporate-treasuries\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">need yields<\/a>, investment opportunities, and financial services, and traditional finance, such as banks, cannot serve this massive new market due to regulatory, financial, geofencing, and infrastructure constraints.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEthereum is uniquely positioned to host the global financial infrastructure for this new digital dollar economy, and ETH stands to benefit directly from this growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ethereum is already primed for this position because it is globally accessible, institution-grade secure, and resistant to government interference.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Ethereum is already the primary settlement layer, underpinning the largest on-chain economy with more than $140 billion in stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets and $60 billion in DeFi.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Ethereum will become to the on-chain dollar economy what Treasuries and gold are to traditional finance \u2013 a reserve and trust anchor.<\/p>\n<p>As stablecoin usage expands, a flywheel effect will be generated as more ETH is needed as collateral for DeFi and real-world finance, more ETH is staked, securing the network and reducing supply, and more <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/another-public-company-treasury-pivots-to-ethereum-with-172m-raise\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">institutional capital flows in<\/a>, as the asset offers regulatory clarity and composability.<\/p>\n<h2>No Real Competition<\/h2>\n<p>There is no real competition at the moment because Bitcoin lacks programmability and adoption as a financial platform, and other blockchains lack Ethereum\u2019s security, decentralization, and institutional credibility, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, traditional finance is geographically and regulatorily siloed and unable to serve the global demand unlocked by stablecoins. Anyone who has tried to open a bank account in a particular country without a physical address there would concur.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve believed in programmable money since 2018. We made the institutional case for Bitcoin at our founding.
