{"id":35914,"date":"2025-07-09T11:16:49","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T11:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=35914"},"modified":"2025-07-09T11:16:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T11:16:49","slug":"uk-crypto-users-could-face-408-fine-for-failure-to-provide-certain-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=35914","title":{"rendered":"UK Crypto Users Could Face $408 Fine for Failure to Provide Certain Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Cryptocurrency users in the U.K. will be required to provide certain information to service providers relating to their digital asset activity from Jan. 1 2026, or risk a fine.<\/p>\n<p>Users must provide their full name, date of birth, address, country of residence and tax identification numbers. <\/p>\n<p>Failure to do so <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HMRCgovuk\/status\/1942235436824273278\">could land them a penalty<\/a> of up to 300 pounds ($408).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/information-youll-need-to-give-to-uk-cryptoasset-service-providers?&amp;utm_source=t.co_hmrcgovuk&amp;utm_medium=social\">His Majesty&#8217;s Revenue and Customs<\/a> (HMRC) said the information will help users&#8217; crypto activity be linked to their tax record to work out how much tax is payable. <\/p>\n<p>The requirement pertains to users&#8217; dealings with all businesses classed as crypto service providers.
