The company has revealed its target of acquiring 210,000 BTC by 2027 \u2013 1% of all BTC available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Tokyo-listed company is the <a href=\"https:\/\/99bitcoins.com\/news\/bitcoin-btc\/metaplanet-beats-tesla-coinbase-to-become-5th-largest-corporate-bitcoin-holder-ceo-says-more-purchases-coming\/\">world\u2019s fifth-largest corporate buyer of Bitcoin.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interestingly, the company doubled its trading volume in June 2025 \u2013\u00a0 from \u00a5997.6 billion yen ($6.82 billion) in May 2025 to \u00a591.86 trillion yen ($12.87 billion) in June 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Talking to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/475ca245-bd04-4a56-b848-b88ea3b4ef13\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Financial Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on 8 July 2025 Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich may have hinted at the possibility of acquiring a Japanese digital bank. He said that the company was in \u201ca bitcoin gold rush\u201d that could provide the launch pad to expand into areas such as digital financial services. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Japanese microstrategy Metaplanet announced that its Bitcoin strategy has entered the second phase, planning to use BTC as collateral leverage to acquire cash flow businesses. But he drew the line at convertible debt. \u201cI don\u2019t want to have to pay back the money in three, four years\u2019 time and have whether or not we need to repay be linked to an arbitrary share price,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to Arkham\u2019s X post, \u201cThis company now holds more Bitcoin than the entire country of Bhutan. Metaplanet bought $238.7M USD of Bitcoin last week and now holds $1.7 Billion USD of BTC.
