{"id":36536,"date":"2025-07-12T13:16:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T13:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=36536"},"modified":"2025-07-12T13:16:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T13:16:43","slug":"trump-slaps-30-tariffs-on-eu-and-mexico-will-bitcoins-price-react","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=36536","title":{"rendered":"Trump Slaps 30% Tariffs on EU and Mexico: Will Bitcoin\u2019s Price React?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Following a few quiet months of tariff deadline extension, US President Donald Trump has hit several countries in the past week or so, with the latest being Mexico and all nations within the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Given BTC\u2019s response to the initial such threats in April, the question now arises whether the asset\u2019s recent resurgence and jump to uncharted territory will come to an end.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: President Trump announces 30% tariff on the European Union and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Trump says if they retaliate, these tariffs will be raised by the same amount as the retaliation. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JQ1HsLeseO\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/JQ1HsLeseO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Kobeissi Letter (@KobeissiLetter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KobeissiLetter\/status\/1944013339832504708?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">July 12, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The letter sent to \u201cHer Excellency\u201d \u2013 EU\u2019s Ursula von der Leyen, reads that it\u2019s Trump\u2019s \u201cgreat honor\u201d to demonstrate the strength and commitment of the two parties\u2019 trading relationship, even though the US has \u201cone of the largest trade deficits\u201d with the Union.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, the POTUS has described the 30% tariffs, which will go into effect on August 1, as a \u201cmore balanced and fair trade\u201d that will allow the US to continue its relationship with the EU.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Trump\u2019s letter reads that the EU will \u201callow complete, open market access to the United States, with no tariff being charged to us, in an attempt to reduce the large trade deficit\u201d and issue the following warning:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf for any reason you decide to raise your tarrifs and retaliate, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, will be added onto the 30% that we charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The letter to the Mexican President, Dr. Claudia Pardo, carried a similar message and the same threat.<\/p>\n<p>Recent history from earlier this year shows that bitcoin\u2019s price tends to be highly affected by tariffs imposed or even threatened by the US President against other countries. Back in April, as Trump was slapping tariffs against essentially every country, BTC tumbled from over $100,000 to under $75,000 to mark a<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/almost-300b-wiped-out-of-crypto-markets-as-bitcoin-plunged-to-5-month-low-market-watch\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"> five-month low<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It has recovered a lot of ground since then, and it <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitcoin-hits-new-ath-altcoins-rocket-trumps-latest-tariffs-your-weekly-crypto-recap\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">skyrocketed<\/a> to a new all-time high earlier this week at over $119,000.
