Bitcoin\u2019s breakout earlier this month triggered altcoin after altcoin to surge. Ethereum is up 60%, and XRP is up 66%, though both have been down slightly (1-2%) in the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

And right on schedule, here comes Solana ($SOL), up over 45%<\/a> for the month and 2.07% for the day.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s driving Solana\u2019s surge? The protocol always has been and probably always will be the home of meme coins \u2013 and pump.fun\u2019s recent $PUMP launch shows the meme market on Solana isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n

But the recent rise in $SOL\u2019s price isn\u2019t driven by meme coins; instead, institutional investment strategies and developer adoption are rapidly transitioning Solana from a developer playground to a flagship blockchain.<\/p>\n

Solana Treasuries Reach New Heights<\/h2>\n

DeFi Development Corp has amassed 999,999 $SOL after purchasing 141,383 $SOL ($19M) between 14\u201320 July, using spot buys, locked tokens, and staking yields.<\/p>\n

The firm plans to stake all holdings and still has $5M capacity left via equity-line facilities. Crucially, DeFi Dev Corp isn\u2019t building a massive Solana treasury\u00a0just\u00a0for itself; it plans to use the reserve as the basis for a strategic treasury franchising model<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Under the model, DFDV would support regional public Solana treasury vehicles, with support from Kraken, Pantera, and more. By providing operational, strategic, and technical infrastructure, DFDV would open the door to Solana treasuries to more companies.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the next stage in a continuing evolution of the crypto treasuries movement. Strategy\u2019s Bitcoin approach seeks to amass as much Bitcoin as possible and relies on unrealised gains to power stock price increases. DFDV\u2019s approach relies on validator revenue and staking rewards to maximise \u2018SOL per share\u2019 (SPS) over time.<\/p>\n

From Treasuries to Tokenized Assets<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, Mercurity Fintech just snagged a $200M investment from Solana Ventures<\/a> to power its own Solana treasury.<\/p>\n

The initiative includes building a SOL token base, staking via validator operations, engaging in DeFi activities, and investing in Solana ecosystem projects. It marks a strategic pivot beyond fintech infrastructure toward a deeper on-chain presence.<\/p>\n

In particular, the $200M will fund three specific goals:<\/p>\n
