The Ripple\/SEC Case Remains Ongoing<\/h2>\n

The legal <\/span>tussle<\/span> between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which <\/span>started<\/span> in December 2020, <\/span>still awaits its official conclusion<\/span>.<\/span> Back then, the regulator accused the company of breaching <\/span>certain<\/span> laws when selling XRP tokens and initially demanded a fine of $2 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The case underwent numerous developments over the following years, with Judge Analisa Torres ruling<\/a> in 2023 that Ripple\u2019s sales on secondary markets did not constitute securities offerings, followed by a $125 million penalty. Moreover, both parties later<\/span> shook hands<\/span><\/a> on an even smaller<\/span> fine of $50 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the Commission\u2019s appeal on the 2023 ruling remains pending, and it is required to submit a status update on the matter <\/span>by August 15<\/span>. <\/span>Just recently<\/span>, <\/span>the<\/span> American lawyer Bill Morgan <\/span>wondered<\/span><\/a> whether <\/span>the<\/span> SEC\u2019s<\/span> Chairman Paul Atkins could influence the commissioners to vote to dismiss the content.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Marc Fagel, a former regional director of the SEC for the San Francisco office, <\/span>said<\/span><\/a> the members have already done so before the arrival of the new Chair. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo it seems pretty obvious where this is going. <\/span>They<\/span> just have to get through the standard internal approval process,\u201d <\/span>he<\/span> added.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

RLUSD\u2019s Advancement<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ripple\u2019s stablecoin, named RLUSD, officially saw the light of day in December last year. It is pegged 1:1 to the American dollar and <\/span>is designed<\/span> to facilitate instant settlement of cross-border payments, among other purposes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The product has caught the eye of some well-known financial players in the last few months. The oldest US bank, BNY Mellon, <\/span>agreed<\/span><\/a> to serve as a custodian for RLUSD, whereas the Swiss AMINA Bank recently <\/span>became<\/span><\/a> the first banking institution to support the product directly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The cryptocurrency market has experienced a substantial correction over the last several days, and Ripple\u2019s cross-border token was no exception. Its price briefly plummeted to $2.75 over the weekend but later recovered above $3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some<\/span> factors <\/span>suggest<\/span><\/a> that XRP could <\/span>witness<\/span> another <\/span>pullback in the short term<\/span>.<\/span> Examples are the recent selling from whales and the formation of a so-called \u201cdeath cross\u201d on the MVRV ratio.<\/span><\/p>\n

Multiple analysts<\/span>, <\/span>though,<\/span> believe the valuation could head north soon.<\/span> X user CRYPTOWZRD <\/span>expects<\/span><\/a> to see more positive price action in the following days, \u201cwhich will help XRP become strongly bullish and rally towards the $3.65 resistance target.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Crypto Rand, who admitted not being an XRP fan, <\/span>claimed<\/span><\/a> the asset looks ready to explode.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
