Shiba Inu has kicked off a formal, multi-stage voting process to select the project\u2019s first interim \u201cnetwork president\u201d and seat councils for each DAO, a governance overhaul framed by the team as \u201cthe true birth of a network state.\u201d In an August 4 post titled ELECTIONS, the project\u2019s lead figure Shytoshi Kusama wrote that \u201ca new lead visionary and councils for each dao will need to be chosen,\u201d calling the moment \u201cthe true birth of a network state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shiba Inu To Elect New Leader<\/h2>\n

Kusama simultaneously reiterated<\/a> the long-stated goal of removing single-party control over the ecosystem, writing on X that \u201cShib has always been designed for full decentralization\u2026 It\u2019s time to launch a vital aspect to achieve this goal: ELECTIONS.\u201d The message referenced the community entering its fifth \u201cShib Year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shiba Inu Core developer Kaal Dhairya amplified<\/a> the decentralization rationale on August 5, arguing that the project\u2019s strength lies in the interplay of its tokens and systems. \u201cShib was never meant to be controlled or tamed by one individual\u2014it\u2019s the essence of decentralization,\u201d he wrote, calling elections \u201cthe first step toward embracing this decentralized vision<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the ELECTIONS blueprint, the interim presidency will be chosen before \u201cShibizenship\u201d begins and later subjected to ratification no later than four months after Shibizenship is in place, in line with the so-called Hounds Constitution.<\/p>\n

The voting architecture is three-phased: an open nomination round that advances the top ten to a live or recorded debate stage; a follow-up ballot a week later to determine the final three; and a concluding vote one week after debates. \u201cThe final vote will be final,\u201d the post states.<\/p>\n

Candidates must create public profiles, and while anyone can self-nominate, the foundation reserves a veto right; the winner must complete KYC with the foundation and sign an NDA \u201cas you would expect in any state.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kusama proposes a token-weighted mechanism across the ecosystem, writing that \u201c1 token = 1 vote\u201d for \u201cany and all of the ecosystem tokens,\u201d a design explicitly intended to align outcomes with holders who \u201chave the most skin\u201d in the project\u2019s success. While emphasizing openness, the document asks the community to \u201crigorously vet, check and learn about all candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n

The role described for the interim president is sweeping. The office holder would coordinate the transfer of power, steward the \u201cShib Paper\u201d vision, and stand up the first congress\u2014\u201cconsisting of the four Dao councils,\u201d the inter-branch DAO envisaged in prior materials. The post underscores the stakes by putting a number on what\u2019s being overseen, citing responsibility to a community of millions and \u201cthe financial responsibility of a 7 billion dollar token.\u201d<\/p>\n

Governance plumbing also gets a notable tweak. The document proposes shifting the Economic Council under the Shib DAO<\/a> rather than Treat, freeing Treat<\/a> \u201cto focus on innovation.\u201d The council would shape how Shib \u201cmakes and retains revenue or a treasury system (outside the other daos),\u201d described as \u201cvitally important to the long term success of the project.\u201d<\/p>\n

In parallel with the procedural outline, Dhairya\u2019s message sought to keep the Shiba Inu community unified around the broader ecosystem rather than splintering initiatives, inviting exploration of new ideas under the Shib umbrella. \u201cElections are the first step,\u201d he wrote, urging contributors to \u201cthink differently and collaboratively.\u201d<\/p>\n

The team says logistical specifics\u2014dates and precise timings for nominations, debates and balloting\u2014will follow, and stresses that its own role shifts with this handover. \u201cUpon the release of this document, our role will shift,\u201d the post notes, adding that the group will continue building alongside Treat DAO and external initiatives aligned with its vision.<\/p>\n
