The incident did not meaningfully impact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/markets\/cryptocurrency\/24\/12\/42429730\/dogecoins-cycle-peak-projected-8-10-by-top-trader-amid-pullback-but-heres-why-you-should-be-careful\">price of Dogecoin.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What Happened: Andreas Kohl<\/strong>, co-founder of the <strong>Bitcoin<\/strong> sidechain <strong>Sequentia<\/strong>, claimed responsibility for exploiting the flaw on Dec. 12, using a modest laptop in El Salvador to execute the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the incident, data from Blockchair <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EfficiencyDOGE\/status\/1867008173359718868\">showed<\/a> 647 active Dogecoin nodes.<\/p>\n<p>Following the exploit, that number <a href=\"https:\/\/blockchair.com\/dogecoin\/nodes\">plummeted <\/a>to 315.
