{"id":41941,"date":"2025-08-13T11:46:47","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T11:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=41941"},"modified":"2025-08-13T11:46:47","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T11:46:47","slug":"metaplanet-to-launch-preferred-shares-bitcoin-backed-yield-curve-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=41941","title":{"rendered":"Metaplanet to Launch Preferred Shares, Bitcoin-Backed Yield Curve Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Tokyo-based investment firm <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Metaplanet_JP\/status\/1955544036573331671\">Metaplanet<\/a> (3350) has unveiled two major strategic initiatives aimed at deepening its integration of bitcoin (BTC).<\/p>\n<p>The announcements came as the company posted strong second-quarter results, with revenue climbing 41% quarter-over-quarter to 1.239 billion yen ($8.4 million) and net income swinging to a 11.1 billion yen ($75.1 million) profit from a 5.0 billion loss yen last year.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet&#8217;s head of bitcoin strategy <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DylanLeClair_\/status\/1955550094553440564\">Dylan LeClair<\/a> announced the launch of \u201cMetaplanet Prefs,\u201d a perpetual preferred equity instrument designed to scale the company\u2019s bitcoin treasury operations similar to Strategy&#8217;s (MSTR) preferred equities. <\/p>\n<p>As Japan\u2019s largest publicly traded bitcoin holder, Metaplanet intends to set a new standard in the country\u2019s fixed income market by introducing BTC-backed credit products through these preferred shares.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Metaplanet, the preferred shares will allow for the issuance of BTC-backed instruments across a wide range of credit profiles and maturities. The goal is to align with and adapt to domestic fixed income demand, positioning bitcoin as a credible form of collateral in Japan\u2019s capital markets.<\/p>\n<p>The second initiative involves building a bitcoin-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/07\/25\/michael-saylor-continues-to-build-out-his-own-yield-curve\">yield curve<\/a> in the Japanese fixed income market. This would create a framework for pricing BTC-collateralized credit instruments, offering institutional investors a new way to gain exposure to Bitcoin while generating predictable yields.<\/p>\n<p>As of mid-August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/08\/12\/metaplanet-boosts-bitcoin-reserves-with-usd61m-purchase\">Metaplanet holds <\/a>18,113 BTC worth about $1.85 billion, making it the sixth largest corporate bitcoin holder in the world.
