It traded even higher on exchanges with a premium, such as Coinbase and Bitstamp.<\/p>\n<p>The asset has gained 3.4% on the day, climbing from an intraday low of $119,000 and exceeding its July 14 peak of $123,300.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitcoin-bounces-back-this-week-but-glassnode-sees-trouble-ahead\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">BTC<\/a> has added almost 8% over the past week, partly driven by easing global trade tariff tensions and US CPI (core inflation) remaining high, which <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitcoin-volatility-4-things-that-could-move-crypto-markets-this-week\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">increases the odds<\/a> of a September rate cut.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin Flips Google<\/h2>\n<p>The move pushed Bitcoin\u2019s market capitalization to $2.46 trillion, which enabled the asset to flip Google (Alphabet) for the metric, becoming the world\u2019s fifth-largest asset.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24BTC&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">$BTC<\/a> is now the 5th largest asset in the world by market cap, surpassing Google.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24BTC&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">$BTC<\/a> \u2013 2.456T<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24GOOG&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">$GOOG<\/a> \u2013 2.450T <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/THBXQsiXBR\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/THBXQsiXBR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CoinGecko (@coingecko) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coingecko\/status\/1955822210893173180?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">August 14, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Analyst \u2018Rekt Capital\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/rektcapital\/status\/1954895510164431265\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">said<\/a> that the $126,000 level \u201cwill be the pivotal price point going forward,\u201d as a convincing break will send the asset much higher.<\/p>\n<p>Venture capitalist Chris Burniske <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cburniske\/status\/1955692515861946864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">predicted<\/a> an October top for Bitcoin, stating, \u201cif I were to pick numbers, which we all know is a grade above guessing, I\u2019d say BTC to 142,690.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also made some bold predictions for Ether to reach $6,900 to $8,000 and for Solana to hit $420 this cycle.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe crazier prices get in August\/September\/October, the more conviction I\u2019ll have in an October top. If we pull back hard soon and get more muted, then perhaps we can extend this bull [market] for longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe record highs we\u2019re seeing in Bitcoin and Ethereum are being fueled by an unprecedented wave of institutional capital,\u201d said Rachael Lucas, crypto analyst at BTC Markets, who added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cCorporate treasuries are amplifying the supply squeeze. Public and private companies, along with sovereign entities, now control over 3.64 million BTC, worth roughly $447 billion, which is more than 17% of the total supply.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Ethereum Inches Close to ATH<\/h2>\n<p>Ether also <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ethereum-eth-within-striking-distance-of-2021-peak-amid-retail-disbelief\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">remains hot<\/a> with a four-year high of $4,770 during the Thursday morning Asian session.
