The announcement included the introduction of a state-of-the-art processor Google calls<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/technology\/research\/google-willow-quantum-chip\/\"> Willow<\/a>. According to Google, Willow can complete a computational test in a few minutes that no supercomputer today can perform in a timely or practical manner.<\/p>\n<p>This has led some observers to suggest that the age of the &#8220;cryptographically relevant quantum computer\u201d or CRQC is upon us. In a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/05\/04\/national-security-memorandum-on-promoting-united-states-leadership-in-quantum-computing-while-mitigating-risks-to-vulnerable-cryptographic-systems\/\"> May 2022 memorandum<\/a>, the U.S. government noted that a CRQC is theoretically &#8220;capable of breaking much of the public-key cryptography used on digital systems across the United States and around the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cybersecurity professionals and corporations are increasingly apprehensive about the potential susceptibility of conventional encryption techniques. This view was recently expressed in a 2024 study by the<a href=\"https:\/\/globalriskinstitute.org\/publication\/2024-quantum-threat-timeline-report\/\"> Global Risk Institute<\/a>. In the report, many experts in the field believe the quantum threat could become a reality within 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Protecting against this emerging risk is the mission of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theqrl.org\/\"> <strong>Quantum Resistant Ledger<\/strong><\/a> (QRL).<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What The Quantum Resistant Ledger Is And What It Seeks To Achieve<\/h2>\n<p>The QRL is a pioneering initiative dedicated to safeguarding digital assets from the emerging risks of quantum computing.
