{"id":45522,"date":"2025-09-03T14:01:57","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=45522"},"modified":"2025-09-03T14:01:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T14:01:57","slug":"u-s-bank-resumes-bitcoin-custody-services-adds-support-for-etfs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=45522","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Bank Resumes Bitcoin Custody Services, Adds Support for ETFs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>U.S. Bank said it restarted cryptocurrency custody offerings for institutional investment managers, broadening the service to include bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs).<\/p>\n<p>The program, first rolled out in 2021 and put on hold in 2022, is available on an early access basis through U.S. Bank\u2019s Global Fund Services division, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20250903779452\/en\/U.S.-Bank-Resumes-Bitcoin-Cryptocurrency-Custody-Services-for-Institutional-Investment-Managers\">the bank said<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Custody operations will be supported by NYDIG, which is acting as the bank\u2019s sub-custodian for bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Philipson, vice chair of U.S. Bank Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking, said the move was prompted by renewed regulatory clarity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re proud that we were one of the first banks to offer cryptocurrency custody for fund and institutional custody clients back in 2021, and we\u2019re excited to resume the service this year,\u201d he said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>NYDIG CEO Tejas Shah framed the partnership as a way to bring institutional-grade safeguards to bitcoin access. \u201cTogether, we can bridge the gap between traditional finance and the modern economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Bank had over $11.7 trillion in assets under custody and administration as of June 30.
