{"id":45924,"date":"2025-09-05T12:01:48","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T12:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=45924"},"modified":"2025-09-05T12:01:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T12:01:48","slug":"sora-ventures-to-buy-1b-in-bitcoin-with-new-treasury-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=45924","title":{"rendered":"Sora Ventures to Buy $1B in Bitcoin With New Treasury Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Investment firm Sora Ventures announced what it says is Asia\u2019s first dedicated bitcoin (BTC) treasury fund, with plans to buy $1 billion worth of the cryptocurrency in the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made during Taipei Blockchain Week, where the firm <a href=\"https:\/\/sora.vc\/sora-ventures-launches-asias-first-bitcoin-treasury-fund-plans-to-buy-1-billion-in-btc-within-6-months\/\">revealed<\/a> $200 million in initial commitments from investors across the region.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will serve as a central pool of capital for strengthening Asia\u2019s network of bitcoin treasury firms, the company said. A number of companies in the region already manage their own bitcoin treasuries, the largest of which belongs to Tokoy-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/09\/01\/metaplanet-bitcoin-purchase-takes-holdings-to-20k-btc-overtaking-riot-platforms\">Metaplanet (3350) at 20,000 BTC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time Asia has seen a commitment of this magnitude toward building a network of bitcoin treasury firms,\u201d Luke Liu, partner at Sora Ventures, said.<\/p>\n<p>Founder Jason Fang added that institutional interest has long been concentrated in the U.S. and Europe, and that the new fund signals Asia\u2019s emergence as a serious player in the market.<\/p>\n<p>Taipei-based Sora has already invested in several regional pioneers. In 2024, it backed Metaplanet\u2019s 1 billion yen ($6.7 million) bitcoin allocation, and in 2025 it acquired Hong Kong\u2019s Moon Inc., Thailand\u2019s DV8 and partnered with South Korea\u2019s BitPlanet, the firm said.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin treasury firms\u2019 accumulation is one of the major trends of the current cycle. In total, publicly traded companies control over 1 million BTC, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcointreasuries.net\/\">BitcoinTreasuries<\/a> data.
