{"id":46464,"date":"2025-09-09T07:46:40","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T07:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=46464"},"modified":"2025-09-09T07:46:40","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T07:46:40","slug":"ripple-extends-digital-asset-custody-partnership-with-bbva-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=46464","title":{"rendered":"Ripple Extends Digital Asset Custody Partnership With BBVA in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Ripple is expanding its banking partnerships in Europe through a new agreement with BBVA in Spain. <\/p>\n<p>The deal will see BBVA integrate Ripple\u2019s digital asset custody technology into its recently launched retail service for trading and holding bitcoin and ether.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as European banks adapt to the Market in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation, which sets a framework for offering digital asset services across the EU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that MiCA is established, the region\u2019s banks are emboldened to launch the digital asset offerings that their customers are asking for,\u201d said Cassie Craddock, Ripple\u2019s managing director for Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple Custody was born out of the blockchain firm\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2023\/11\/27\/ripple-edges-closer-to-banks-via-crypto-custody-firm-metaco\">acquisition of Swiss crypto custody specialist Metaco<\/a>, which had signed up BBVA.<\/p>\n<p>Francisco Maroto, BBVA\u2019s head of digital assets, said the integration allows the bank to \u201cdirectly provide an end-to-end custody service\u201d with the security customers expect from a major financial institution.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership extends Ripple\u2019s prior work with BBVA, which already uses its custody technology in Switzerland and Turkey. For Ripple, Spain represents another foothold in Europe\u2019s regulated digital asset market. Ripple holds more than 60 regulatory licenses globally.<\/p>\n<p>The deal signals a gradual shift in how traditional banks approach crypto.
