{"id":48894,"date":"2025-09-22T19:01:57","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T19:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=48894"},"modified":"2025-09-22T19:01:57","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T19:01:57","slug":"u-s-u-k-form-task-force-to-align-on-crypto-and-capital-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=48894","title":{"rendered":"U.S., U.K. Form Task Force to Align on Crypto and Capital Markets"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The U.S. and U.K. have established a joint Transatlantic Taskforce aimed at strengthening cooperation on capital markets and digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>The task force, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/boosting-collaboration-between-uk-and-us-financial-systems-to-drive-innovation-and-growth-in-global-markets\">announced<\/a> on Sep. 22 by U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, will bring together officials from HM Treasury, the U.S. Treasury and market regulators across both jurisdictions. <\/p>\n<p>Two of the goals of the task force is to develop approaches to digital asset oversight and explore new opportunities in wholesale digital markets.<\/p>\n<p>The group will report within 180 days through the existing U.K.\u2013U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group, delivering recommendations shaped in close consultation with private industry, the release said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLondon and New York remain the twin pillars of global finance,\u201d Reeves said, adding that closer alignment is essential as technology reshapes markets. Bessent echoed that sentiment during a Downing Street roundtable, calling the initiative a commitment to ensuring innovation in financial markets \u201cdoes not stop at borders.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Crypto at the forefront<\/h4>\n<p>While the task force\u2019s remit spans traditional capital markets, digital assets are expected to take center stage. <\/p>\n<p>Officials will look at both short-term measures, such as facilitating cross-border use cases while legislation remains in flux, and long-term strategies for advancing wholesale digital market infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the creation of a joint U.K.-U.S. task force on capital markets and digital assets, we can expect meaningful developments on both sides of the Atlantic,\u201d Mark Aruliah, head of EMEA policy and regulatory affairs at\u00a0Elliptic, said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>While noting that the U.S. has \u201cset the pace with a pro-innovation agenda,\u201d Aruliah suggested the task force \u201csignals a strong intent to close that gap and position the U.K. more competitively.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More broadly, the firm described the collaboration as a validation of the digital assets industry itself: \u201cStructured collaboration of this kind will strengthen a shared commitment to higher standards of transparency and accountability, and may establish a global benchmark if other jurisdictions follow suit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. and U.K. have established a joint Transatlantic Taskforce aimed at strengthening cooperation on capital markets and digital assets.
