Aave\u2019s planned Aave v3 deployment could turn OKX\u2019s X Layer from a niche L2 into a serious DeFi venue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aave v3, one of DeFi\u2019s largest lending protocols, is <\/span>preparing<\/span><\/a> to launch on X Layer, the Ethereum Layer-2 network developed by crypto exchange OKX. The rollout is expected \u201cin the coming weeks<\/a>,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The deployment aims to build a core lending market on X Layer and strengthen its liquidity base. X Layer currently trails major Layer-2 networks in total value locked (TVL), with DefiLlama <\/span>data<\/span><\/a> showing deposits far below leaders such as Arbitrum and Optimism.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the Aave DAO held a \u201ctemp check\u201d to measure community support for expanding onto X Layer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The proposal framed the move as a chance to \u201cposition Aave v3 as the core liquidity layer for this new ecosystem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

If sentiment continues to hold, the process will advance to a Snapshot vote and then to a final on-chain governance proposal (AIP).<\/span><\/p>\n

The launch would mark another step in broadening Aave\u2019s multi-chain footprint. For X Layer, it could significantly boost liquidity and user activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

What Is X Layer and How Does It Work as an Ethereum L2?<\/b><\/h2>\n

X Layer went live on mainnet in 2024 as an Ethereum L2 built with Polygon\u2019s CDK. OKX says the network targets high throughput and near-zero fees and is being refocused on payments and DeFi. Earlier materials highlight OKX\u2019s aim to funnel a large exchange user base on-chain via X Layer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OKX\u2019s learning hub, <\/span>updated<\/span> on Sept. 24, says Aave is \u201ccoming\u201d to X Layer with native lending markets (e.g., USDT, ETH), touting deep liquidity pools and tight integration with OKX Wallet and the broader OKX ecosystem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
