Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz used a weekend appearance on Kyle Chass\u00e9\u2019s podcast to make an unexpected\u2014if nuanced\u2014bull case for XRP, arguing that the asset\u2019s value today is anchored less in on-chain activity than in an unusually durable, identity-forming community that has survived lawsuits, bear markets and cycles of derision from rivals.<\/p>\n

\u201cXRP has one of the strongest communities there is. You want to learn about it, say something bad about them,\u201d Novogratz said<\/a>. \u201cPeople will be out in front of your house with picket signs protesting you. Those community members love their token. They have a narrative, it\u2019s going to be payments\u2026\u201d He acknowledged that present-day activity trails faster networks\u2014\u201cWe can look at how much use case is on the blockchain. It\u2019s not nearly as much as on Solana, right? Small. It doesn\u2019t matter for their value proposition right now. Their value proposition is the intensity of that community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bull Case For XRP<\/h2>\n

The Galaxy CEO framed that intensity as a rational response to a broader collapse of trust since the 2008 crisis. \u201cWe have so little trust that we\u2019re finding trust in these online crypto communities,\u201d he argued, describing the strongest crypto ecosystems as \u201ccults\u201d in the sociological sense\u2014conviction-driven communities that substitute identity and shared myth for institutional trust. \u201cAll the crypto that are successful are cults,\u201d he said. It is the kind of commitment that inspires permanence signals\u2014\u201cthat\u2019s why people get tattoos\u2026 No one gets tattoos about their stock.\u201d<\/p>\n

Novogratz contrasted equity investors\u2019 price discipline with crypto tribal loyalty. \u201cI\u2019m an Oracle guy. I like Oracle when it\u2019s cheap. I don\u2019t like it when it\u2019s expensive,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019ve never heard an XRP Army guy think XRP is expensive\u2026 They just want to be in XRP.\u201d The same identity logic, he noted, permeates Bitcoin: \u201cI\u2019ve got one employee who loves Bitcoin so much\u2026 if Bitcoin went away, he would have almost no purpose in life. Like, his purpose is Bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chass\u00e9 pushed the analogy into equities by name-checking Tesla\u2019s fandom. Novogratz agreed: \u201cTesla, because it\u2019s become a cult. It\u2019s a community. It\u2019s a cult<\/a>.\u201d That bleed-through between markets, in his view, is the tell: culture can dominate valuation models for long stretches, and crypto\u2019s most resilient assets are those whose communities behave as movements.<\/p>\n

XRP\u2019s path through US litigation<\/a> became his central case study in resilience. \u201cI didn\u2019t think XRP would last after the lawsuits and all the\u2026 It did. And it\u2019s stronger. It\u2019s actually been the best token you could have bought post-election,\u201d he said, calling the phenomenon \u201calmost irrational\u201d but instructive for understanding why dismissing a community can be costly. Novogratz credited Ripple\u2019s chief executive directly: \u201cBrad Garlinghouse has done a world-class job of navigating these lawsuits, of keeping that community\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

He also used the moment to revisit his own priors about decentralization purity tests. \u201cI used to get angry about it because I was like, oh, it\u2019s not Bitcoin. It\u2019s not as decentralized\u2026 Like, who am I to judge where people want to store their money?\u201d He extended the principle beyond XRP: \u201cThe same holds true for XRP or Cardano<\/a>. If people want to store their money in that community, go for it\u2026 The arrogance of thinking my community is good, but your community sucks. It\u2019s just stupid. Now, I can make technical arguments for more decentralized than you\u2026 Like, who cares? No one cares.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Novogratz, crypto communities behave like polities\u2014\u201cThey each have their own constitution, Declaration of Independence. They each have their own culture.\u201d He illustrated the point with a story about Galaxy\u2019s own office d\u00e9cor: \u201cWe have the Bitcoin white paper on our freaking ceiling\u2026 like the beginning [crawl] in Star Wars\u2026 That is the constitution of the Bitcoin community.\u201d The implication for XRP is straightforward: as long as the \u201cconstitution\u201d of its community remains intact\u2014an ethos he sees as forged under legal fire\u2014the token\u2019s bid can be sustained by identity as much as by immediate utility.<\/p>\n

Chass\u00e9 briefly touched on price perceptions from retail\u2014\u201cpeople think XRP is very cheap at $3 because if it gets the same price Bitcoin\u2019s at one day, imagine the upside\u201d\u2014to which Novogratz responded by reiterating his refusal to play judge over others\u2019 monetary choices. \u201cWhen people thought I was crazy, I was like, who the freak are you to judge where I want to\u2026 save my money?\u201d<\/p>\n
