Bitcoin just broke the $125K ATH this Sunday, trading at $125,376.68 on CoinMarketCap for a short period before contracting slightly.<\/p>\n

However, momentum didn\u2019t wear off. Bitcoin is still hovering around $124K, which suggests consolidation before the next push.<\/p>\n

The main catalysts? Trump\u2019s recent government shutdown<\/a> is the most impactful, causing fear and uncertainty due to suspending government services and putting around 40% of the federal workforce on unpaid leave.<\/p>\n

In turn, this increased the likelihood of another tax rate cut at the next FOMC meeting planned for end-October. FedWatch puts the odds of a favorable decision<\/a> at 95.7%, up from 89% on September 29, before the governmental shutdown.<\/p>\n

The uncertainty and chaos at the governmental level casts doubt in the investors\u2019 hearts and lowers their confidence in the US dollar. This explains their migration to crypto in general and Bitcoin in particular, as the once high-risk assets and not as high-risk anymore.<\/p>\n

The massive discrepancy contributed to the fear and uncertainty among investors and explained, at least partly, the market\u2019s migration to crypto.<\/p>\n

Then we have the growing institutional adoption, with the largest Bitcoin treasuries<\/a> hoarding $BTC at a steady pace throughout 2025.<\/p>\n

Together with the increasingly pro-crypto legislation, marked by Trump\u2019s GENIUS Act<\/a>, these factors could support Bitcoin\u2019s growth massively into 2026 and beyond.<\/p>\n

Strategy\u2019s Michael Saylor ascribes to that idea wholeheartedly, when he commented, after being asked about Bitcoin\u2019s next winter phase during a Bloomberg interview back in June:<\/p>\n
