However, here\u2019s some good news in terms of overall development and usage, according to one of the big X channels dedicated to covering events related to Pi Network.<\/p>\n<h2>Pi Network\u2019s Ecosystem Grows<\/h2>\n<p>Although it saw the light of day officially at the beginning of this year, the project had been in development for over half a decade before that. As such, it had accumulated a large user and fan base prior to its launch, which helped it gain traction at first. It attributed this impressive growth to the ongoing Pi Network Hackathon, which <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/massive-pi-network-announcement-as-big-prizes-await-users-details\/\">began<\/a> in late August and is scheduled to be completed on October 15.<\/p>\n<p>The team behind the project <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/pi-networks-big-event-reaches-halfway-point-key-updates-for-pioneers\/\">posted<\/a> a halfway point review in September, which highlighted some of the most utilized new apps that were released during the Hackathon.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which aims to incentivize users to develop more apps on the Pi Network Mainnet, has a prize pool of 160,000 PI tokens to be distributed to up to eight teams in the following manner:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1130\">\n<p class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1130\"><strong class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1103\" data-end=\"1116\">1st Place<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 75,000 Pi<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1131\" data-end=\"1163\">\n<p class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1163\"><strong class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1149\">2nd Place<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 45,000 Pi<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1196\">\n<p class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1196\"><strong class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1169\" data-end=\"1182\">3rd Place<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 15,000 Pi<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1258\">\n<p class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1258\"><strong class=\"skrollable skrollable-between\" data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1240\">Honorable Mentions (up to 5 teams)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 5,000 Pi each<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>PI Price Update<\/h2>\n<p>In contrast to the Pi Network usage, the project\u2019s native token has been in a free-fall state for months. It continues to dig new lows, and the latest came during the Friday-night meltdown when it plunged to $0.1721 (CoinGecko data). This meant that it had lost over 94% of its value since the ATH marked in late February of $2.99.<\/p>\n<p>Although it has bounced to just over $0.20 at press time, the future for PI seems rather grim, at least according to ChatGPT and its latest <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/will-pi-networks-price-dump-to-another-low-next-week-chatgpt-issues-crucial-warning\/\">projection<\/a> on the matter.
