In October, police in Nghe An province dismantled a Laos-based scam ring linked to fraudulent wire transfers and crypto investment scams. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In one case, scammers posing as trustworthy individuals stole over 17.6 billion dong ($700,000) through a fake app called Biconomynft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In June, four Vietnamese individuals <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/99bitcoins.com\/news\/fbi-bust-vietnamese-cyber-gang-after-71m-crypto-heist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were charged<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in the US for their alleged involvement in cyber attacks that resulted in losses exceeding $71 million for victim companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Vietnam-based cybercrime group, FIN9, orchestrated the crypto heist targeting U.S. companies. It now operates as \u201cMeetio\u201d and previously used<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0domains such as Clusee.com, Cuesee, Meeten.gg, and Meetone.gg.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Once downloaded, the app deploys a Realst information stealer\u00a0to extract sensitive data, including Telegram logins, banking information, and cryptocurrency wallet credentials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Similar schemes have surfaced recently.
