Ripple\u2019s long-running strategy is to embed its technology across the world\u2019s financial plumbing\u2014piece by piece and across multiple functions\u2014according to Phil and Dom Kwok, the brothers behind the Easy app, in a new appearance on the Paul Barron Show. The founders characterized what they called \u201cthe Ripple plan\u201d as a coordinated effort to place XRP Ledger\u2013based infrastructure and the company\u2019s software wherever institutions already operate, rather than trying to disintermediate them.<\/p>\n

Ripple Follow\u2019s Meta\u2019s Blueprint<\/h2>\n

Talking about Ripple\u2019s acquisitions of Metaco, Standard Custody, Hidden Road<\/a> and Rail, Dom Kwok framed the objective as coverage across brokerage, treasury, and stablecoin rails, arguing that the cumulative effect\u2014rather than any single deal\u2014reveals the intent. \u201cRipple really wants to have, you know, the XRP ledger and its tentacles really on the whole financial infrastructure that powers the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo obviously, Hidden Road on the brokerage side, G-Treasury just now on the treasury side. Rail as well on the stablecoin side. And I think, once you start to see all of those different pieces come together, that\u2019s really where you\u2019re going to start to see sort of the power of what they\u2019ve been building over the last many years.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the goal is ubiquity across touchpoints: \u201cno matter which bit of the financial infrastructure someone is interfacing with, they are ultimately, indirectly, even if they don\u2019t know it, touching, an aspect of Ripple\u2019s tech.\u201d<\/p>\n

To illustrate the roll-up logic, Dom pointed to how large tech platforms expand into adjacency through acquisitions and integrations: \u201cA great example is Facebook, which is now obviously called Meta. They bought Instagram, then they bought WhatsApp\u2026 these are standalone companies that were then rolled up and actually became much more valuable once they all came together.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his view, the analogy fits because end users may not realize they are engaging with a common underlying platform when interacting with seemingly distinct brands\u2014a dynamic he suggested the company is replicating in finance.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Ripple Plan\u2019<\/h2>\n

Pressed by host Paul Barron on whether the recent moves reflect a coherent long-term strategy or opportunistic deal-making, Phil Kwok emphasized continuity with Ripple\u2019s institutional, incremental approach, while stopping short of revealing anything not already public.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to say anything that\u2019s not, you know, public yet,\u201d he cautioned, before outlining the philosophical through-line: \u201cIf you\u2026 look at Ripple\u2019s approach, it\u2019s always been different to the traditional sort of\u2026 cypherpunk sort of approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

He contrasted Bitcoin\u2019s cypherpunk strand with Ripple\u2019s posture of building with incumbents: \u201cThe whole ethos behind Ripple and where it came from was, we need to build on what\u2019s come before\u2026 We\u2019ve got to work with the existing financial system.\u201d Citing what he described as Chris Larsen<\/a>\u2019s consistent message, Phil added: \u201cthere has never been a big technological shift, which hasn\u2019t built on what\u2019s come before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phil suggested that the company\u2019s decade-long execution has been aimed at interoperability with banks<\/a> and financial institutions rather than displacement. \u201cIt\u2019s been to work with banks rather than to actually try and say, look, we\u2019re going to completely put banks aside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe\u2019re going to work together with banking institutions\u2026 And so I think that what you\u2019re starting to see right now and what we can talk to publicly is\u2026 this strategy really coming into the fore. And you\u2019re starting to see Ripple make big moves to actually capture that and cement what it\u2019s been building over the past decade.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Dom\u2019s words, the destination is an environment where, across \u201cthe whole financial infrastructure that powers the world,\u201d interacting entities are \u201cindirectly\u2026 touching\u2026 an aspect of Ripple\u2019s tech.\u201d<\/p>\n
