first launched in 2016 under the name AntShares.<\/p>\n<p>There are two phases to the shutdown process. NEO completed Phase 1 by shutting down its testnet on 1 June 2025. As part of the second phase, the mainnet will be <a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/neo.org\/blog\/details\/4320\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">permanently shutting down <\/a>today, 31 October 2025.
