Binance Founder CZ <a class=\"general-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/opa\/pr\/binance-and-ceo-plead-guilty-federal-charges-4b-resolution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">admitted<\/a> to a Bank Secrecy Act violation in 2023, linked to Binance\u2019s weak anti-money laundering controls. He received a four-month sentence in April 2024. He was released from prison that September. Binance later agreed to pay $4.3 billion and accept an outside compliance monitor.<\/p>\n<p>On 23 October 2025, CZ\u00a0 received a Presidential pardon.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Binance entered into an investment deal with Abu Dhabi\u2019s MGX which was settled using Trump-backed stablecoin USD1, created by Trump family\u2019s World Liberty Financial.<\/p>\n<p>While talking to CNBC on 4 November 2025, Teng <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/11\/04\/binance-ceo-richard-teng-denies-changpeng-zhao-trump-crypto-project-cz-pardon-world-liberty-financial-mgx-.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>, \u201cFirst of all, the usage of USD1 [for the] transaction between MGX as a strategic investor into Binance, that was decided by MGX. We didn\u2019t partake in that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, he\u00a0 added, \u201cIn the case of USD1, I\u2019m glad that both parties worked it out.\u201d Teng had welcomed CZ\u2019s pardon as \u201cfantastic news.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m still shocked that stories like this which come out daily still get largely ignored.
