The Czech National Bank is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnb.cz\/en\/cnb-news\/press-releases\/The-CNB-creates-a-test-portfolio-of-digital-assets\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">actively purchasing<\/a> Bitcoin and other digital assets for a pilot program. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Governor of the Czech National Bank since 2022, Ale\u0161 Michl, weighed in. \u201cAs a central bank, we want to test this path,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is realistic to expect that, in the future, it will be easy to use the Crown (CZK) to buy tokenised Czech bonds and more besides \u2013 with one tap an espresso; with another an investment such as a bond or another asset that used to be the preserve of larger investors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI came up with the idea of creating a test portfolio in January 2025,\u201d said <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michl<\/span>. \u201cThe aim was to test decentralised bitcoin from the central bank\u2019s perspective and to evaluate its potential role in diversifying our reserves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Meanwhile, the bank said that \u201cthe purpose of the portfolio is to gain practical experience with holding digital assets and to implement and test the necessary related processes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to a recent Reuters <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/czech-central-bank-buys-1-mln-bitcoin-other-crypto-assets-testing-2025-11-13\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">report,<\/span><\/a> CNB\u2019s <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">portfolio is primarily composed of bitcoins, as well as US dollar-based stablecoins and a tokenised deposit, all acquired through a regulated exchange.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The initiative is not part of the bank\u2019s formal reserve assets. Instead, it is experimental.
