Emilie Choi,<\/strong> president and COO of Coinbase Global Inc. <\/strong>(NASDAQ:<\/a>COIN<\/a>), agreed on Tuesday that the company\u2019s donation toward President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/strong> ambitious ballroom project was made to maintain \u201cgood relations\u201d with White House.<\/p>\n

Donations Not An Issue, Says COO<\/h2>\n

During the Axios\u2019 annual BFD Summit, Choi said that she doesn\u2019t see a problem with the donation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think if you go to D.C., there\u2019s a lot of buildings that need to be updated, and so if private industry has to do that, it is what it is,\u201d the Coinbase executive said.<\/p>\n

Choi said Coinbase \u201cmade a check\u201d to The Trust for the National Mall, a nonprofit that is accepting and managing donations\u00a0for the ballroom renovation.<\/p>\n

She was asked whether the donation was intended\u00a0\u201cto\u00a0keep good relations\u201d with the\u00a0White House. After a brief pause, she replied, \u201cSure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coinbase didn\u2019t immediately return Benzinga\u2019s request for more details regarding the donation.<\/p>\n
