Fred Thiel, CEO of Bitcoin<\/a> mining firm MARA Holdings, has recommended a long-term \u201cinvest-and-forget\u201d strategy for retail investors. Thiel cited Bitcoin\u2019s strong historical price performance for this.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a 2nd <\/span>January 2025 interview with FOX Business<\/span><\/a>, Thiel emphasized that Bitcoin has experienced significant growth over the past 14 years, with its price falling only three times during that period.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thiel\u2019s advice centers on making small, consistent investments over time and holding them for the long haul. \u201cMy recommendation, to my kids, is they put just a little bit away every month in Bitcoin and forget about it,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over several years, Thiel believes, these investments will grow. He noted that Bitcoin has averaged annual price increases between 29% and 50%.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bitcoin Remains A Volatile Asset<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Despite its strong long-term performance, Bitcoin remains a volatile asset. It is often more unpredictable than traditional investments. Thiel acknowledged this risk. He recognized that his \u201cinvest-and-forget\u201d strategy may not be suitable for all investors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead to 2025, Thiel pointed to several factors that could drive Bitcoin\u2019s price higher. It includes the potential establishment of a US Bitcoin reserve, increasing institutional adoption through Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This would result in a more favorable regulatory environment under the incoming Trump administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thiel\u2019s comments come after an X poll from MicroStrategy\u2019s Michael Saylor found that 77.7% of respondents planned to increase their Bitcoin holdings in 2025. <\/span><\/p>\n

MARA Holdings is also committed to holding Bitcoin long-term. It adopted a treasury policy to retain all of its mined Bitcoin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
