Renowned economist Peter Schiff<\/strong> dismissed\u00a0Strategy Inc.<\/strong>\u00a0(NASDAQ:<\/a>MSTR<\/a>) as nothing more than a \u201chighly leveraged\u201d Bitcoin <\/strong>(CRYPTO: <\/a>BTC<\/a>) bet on Sunday, arguing against its inclusion in global equity benchmarks.<\/p>\n

Strategy Not A \u2018Real Operating Business,\u2019 Says Schiff<\/h2>\n

In an X post, Schiff highlighted last week\u2019s report by JPMorgan <\/strong>analysts that the company risks delisting from major equity indices, such as the MSCI World Index<\/strong> and Nasdaq 100<\/strong>, due to the ongoing sell-offs. <\/p>\n

The analysts estimated that roughly $9 billion of Strategy\u2019s $50 billion market value sits in passive funds that track these indices, according <\/a>to CoinDesk, and that removal from MSCI alone could trigger about $2.8 billion in passive outflows.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt never should have been included in those indexes in the first place. It\u2019s not a real operating business,\u201d Schiff said about the Michael Saylor<\/strong>-founded firm.<\/p>\n

The Bitcoin critic argued that passive\u00a0index funds should not be\u00a0\u201ccompelled\u201d to buy the company\u2019s stock.<\/p>\n
