{"id":62566,"date":"2025-12-09T06:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T06:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=62566"},"modified":"2025-12-09T06:17:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T06:17:09","slug":"bitcoin-exchange-outflows-accelerate-despite-short-term-price-weakness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=62566","title":{"rendered":"Bitcoin Exchange Outflows Accelerate Despite Short-Term Price Weakness"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Bitcoin continues to see its supply moving away from exchanges, reported blockchain analytics platform Santiment on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, a net total of 403,200 BTC has moved off centralized trading platforms, representing a 2.1% reduction in the entire supply held on exchanges, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>In general, this is a positive long-term sign, according to Santiment.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe less coins that exist on exchanges, the less likely we\u2019ve historically seen a major sell-off that causes downside pressure for an asset\u2019s price.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Exchange Outflows Are Bullish<\/h2>\n<p>Investors usually take coins off exchanges to hodl or custody, which is bullish. They send them to exchanges in preparation for selling, which is bearish.<\/p>\n<p>Around 14.7% of the total Bitcoin supply is currently held on exchanges, <a href=\"https:\/\/studio.glassnode.com\/charts\/distribution.BalanceExchangesRelative?a=BTC&amp;zoom=all\">according<\/a> to Glassnode. This has been in decline since mid-2022, when almost 18% was held on exchanges.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/16.0.1\/72x72\/1f4ca.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udcca\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"> As Bitcoin\u2019s market value hovers around $90K, crypto\u2019s top market cap continues to see its supply moving away from exchanges. The OBV (On-Balance Volume) chart is a lot cleaner than the price, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Sykodelic_\/status\/1998150155535855685\">said<\/a> analyst Sykodelic on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt is both holding and moving stronger than the price \u2026 which shows us the buying is far stronger than the selling.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Meanwhile, fellow analyst \u201cDaan\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DaanCrypto\/status\/1998121326134120808\">said<\/a> Bitcoin was \u201cstalling while its bull market support band is closing in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Analyst \u201cColin\u201d was also bearish, identifying a bear flag continuation pattern, \u201cwhich means a move down would be the expected outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If such a move down did occur, $74,000 to $77,000 would be the likeliest bottom, he said.<\/p>\n<h2>Short-term Pain Remains<\/h2>\n<p>It appears that Colin may have been onto something, as Bitcoin had lost the $90,000 level again at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>The asset had lost 1.4% on the day and was trading at $89,862, but remained within its weekly range-bound channel.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin has struggled to break through resistance at $92,000.
