Dragonfly partner Haseeb Qureshi published a category-by-category set of 2026 crypto predictions on X late Monday, arguing next year will \u201csurprise, both to the upside and to the downside\u201d even if \u201cthe trend lines mostly continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bitcoin And Crypto Predictions For 2026<\/h2>\n

His headline macro call pairs a bullish bitcoin target with a broader market rebound. \u201cBTC is > $150K by year-end, but BTC dominance decreases in 2026,\u201d Qureshi wrote<\/a>. But he rejected the idea that this automatically implies a blow-off alt cycle: \u201cI don\u2019t think it will be wild enough to call it alt season. I think alts will rebound nevertheless, just not to crazy highs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, Qureshi said \u201cthe recent crop of fintech chains\u201d will not meet expectations on usage and value flow. \u201cDespite the excitement around the recent crop of fintech chains, their metrics will underwhelm,\u201d he wrote, pointing to \u201cdaily active addresses, stablecoin flows, and RWAs.\u201d He named Tempo, Arc, and Robinhood Chain as likely laggards, while adding that \u201cEthereum and Solana will overdeliver\u201d and that \u201cbest developers will continue to build on neutral infra chains.\u201d<\/p>\n

On enterprise rails, he expects more large companies to launch networks, skewing toward regulated incumbents. \u201cMany more Fortune 100s launch blockchains, although increasingly concentrated among banking and fintech players,\u201d he wrote, adding: \u201cExpect Avalanche to be a standout here, alongside OP stack, Orbit, and ZK Stack.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qureshi also predicted a major distribution move from consumer tech: \u201cA big tech company (Google, Facebook, Apple, etc.) launches or acquires a crypto wallet in 2026.\u201d And he offered a contrarian timing call on Monad: \u201cMonad gets written off as dead by CT, but metrics take off in the latter part of the year after analysts have already forgotten about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

On infrastructure, he said DoubleZero adoption broadens: \u201cAt least 3 other chains connect to DoubleZero to improve their latency & throughput metrics. DoubleZero hits 80%+ stake on Solana.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeFi And Stablecoins<\/h2>\n

Qureshi forecass a more concentrated perpetuals market structure. \u201cPerp DEX market share consolidates to something like 3 big venues a la HBO (market share something like 40 \/ 30 \/ 20), followed by a long tail of smaller players who compete over the leftovers (last 10%),\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

He also expects product expansion into equities. \u201cEquity perps take off, becoming >20% of total DeFi perp volume by EOY,\u201d he wrote, alongside \u201csignificant growth in RFQ compared to CLOBs\/AMMs, both on spot and perps.\u201d He added a reputational tail risk: \u201cSome DeFi-related insider trading scandal hits mainstream media.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qureshi predicts a large expansion in stablecoin supply while remaining overwhelmingly dollar-based. \u201cStablecoin supply expands by ~60% in 2026, and USD remains 99%+,\u201d he wrote. He expects Tether to cede some share: \u201cUSDT dominance declines moderately to ~55%.\u201d<\/p>\n

His strongest distribution claim centered on payments. \u201cStablecoin-backed cards grow 1,000% in 2026\u2014insanely fast growth,\u201d Qureshi wrote. \u201cBecomes the dominant way that stablecoins land and expand in emerging markets. Rain is the biggest winner here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regulation And Prediction Markets<\/h2>\n

Qureshi predicted a US legislative deal next year, but with caveats on what the industry gets. \u201cClarity Act gets signed into law in 2026 after some significant markups and horse trading,\u201d he wrote. \u201cA bit of buyer\u2019s remorse from crypto insiders.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also forecast political scrutiny if Democrats take the House. \u201cDems win the house, and there is a parade of hearings about anything in crypto that touched TRUMP \/ WLFI,\u201d Qureshi wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe underlying deals get subpoenaed.\u201d In his scenario, Trump distances himself: \u201cTrump insists he was never involved and didn\u2019t know anything about it (and thus these deals are not protected by executive privilege). Anyone who signed a stupid deal gets publicly embarrassed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qureshi expects prediction markets to expand rapidly amid unresolved US legal fights. \u201cPrediction markets grow like crazy,\u201d he wrote, citing \u201cbig legal fights over sportsbetting regulation and federal pre-emption,\u201d but adding that \u201cnothing major gets resolved next year, so status quo continues through 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

He argued Polymarket extends its cultural edge and distribution. \u201cMeanwhile Polymarket<\/a> continues to steamroll the culture,\u201d Qureshi wrote. \u201cPrediction markets are perceived as cool and smart, and so are allowed to throw up odds everywhere.\u201d He added that as domestic expansion ramps, \u201cit starts winning more and more domestic market share from Robinhood and sportsbooks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most competitors, in his view, will not matter. \u201cThe explosion of other platforms tacking on prediction markets mostly flop,\u201d he wrote. \u201c90% of prediction market offerings are totally ignored and then wind down by EOY.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qureshi said \u201cB2B partnership-driven distribution underperforms, direct-to-consumer outperforms,\u201d with demand concentrated in \u201cPolymarket, Robinhood, and Kalshi frontends (plus traditional sportsbooks).\u201d<\/p>\n

AI And Privacy<\/h2>\n

Qureshi argued crypto\u2019s practical AI use remains narrow. \u201cPrimary AI use cases in crypto remain within software engineering and security. Everything else remains a prototype,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWallet automation remains minimal.\u201d He added: \u201cAI agents will still not be \u2018paying each other\u2019 or spending any meaningful money in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

On spam and identity, he dismissed the near-term feasibility of a Worldcoin<\/a>-style gate despite theoretical promise. \u201cWorldcoin has verified 17 million identities\u2014that\u2019s 1 in 500 people,\u201d Qureshi wrote. \u201cBeing at 1\/500 distribution is way too small of an identity base for any service to transition to using Worldcoin as an identity gate.\u201d He suggested an alternative path: \u201cZK Passports are probably more likely in the short-medium term, because much more of the world\u2019s population as an NFC-enabled passport and can scan it with their phones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about privacy as a major theme, Qureshi demurred. \u201cI think privacy is going to be a laggard,\u201d he wrote. \u201cZcash<\/a> will likely do well because people want to believe, and there will be some adoption of private transactions on Arc, Tempo, etc.\u201d Still, he returned to his overarching frame: \u201cI predict mostly people will keep doing things in 2026 the way they\u2019ve already been doing them.\u201d<\/p>\n
