It has outperformed Bitcoin, which is only up 6.7% since New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEthereum is still cheap,\u201d said analyst \u2018Merlijn\u2019 who observed that it is still in accumulation territory.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not in \u2018Take Profit\u2019 territory. Expansion mode.<\/p>\n<p>Real conviction is built long before headlines arrive. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IhVoUHijDC\">pic.twitter.com\/IhVoUHijDC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Merlijn The Trader (@MerlijnTrader) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MerlijnTrader\/status\/2008237058222158310?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>BitMine Staking Surges<\/h2>\n<p>Selling pressure appears to have diminished, and demand is likely to increase, driven by a renewed interest in Ether staking.<\/p>\n<p>In its latest update on Monday, the world\u2019s largest Ether digital asset treasury, BitMine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/bitmine-immersion-technologies-bmnr-announces-eth-holdings-reach-4-144-million-tokens-and-total-crypto-and-total-cash-holdings-of-14-2-billion-302652341.html\">revealed<\/a> that it has already staked a whopping $2.1 billion worth of ETH in just two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>As of January 4, the company\u2019s total staked ETH stands at 659,219, an increase of 250,592 in the past week.<\/p>\n<p>BitMine\u2019s stake equates to around 1.85% of the total amount of Ether staked on the Beacon Chain, which is currently 35.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Its aggressive staking has caused the validator entry queue to surge to 1.3 million ETH, its highest level since mid-November. Meanwhile, the exit queue has fallen back to July levels, near zero.<\/p>\n<p>BitMine is currently working with three staking providers as the company moves towards unveiling its commercial MAVAN (Made in America VAlidator Network) in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt scale (when Bitmine\u2019s ETH is fully staked by MAVAN and its staking partners), the ETH staking fee is $374 million annually, or greater than $1 million per day,\u201d stated chairman Tom Lee.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in January, BitMine <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitmine-seeks-major-share-authorization-hike-for-ethereum-led-growth\/\">asked<\/a> its shareholders to approve a massive increase in its authorized shares.<\/p>\n<h2>Grayscale Distributes Staking Rewards<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to DATs, staking demand is also coming from US spot Ether exchange-traded funds.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Grayscale became the first spot crypto ETF to distribute staking rewards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpot ETH ETFs didn\u2019t even exist a year and a half ago \u2026 Now [they\u2019re] making *staking* distributions to investors,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NateGeraci\/status\/2008352607127928863\">said<\/a> ETF expert Nate Geraci.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWild how far the crypto ETF space has come in a short amount of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyfart <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JSeyff\/status\/2008208587227824398\">said<\/a> spot Ether ETFs were \u201cdoing okay considering the price performance of ETH, but they\u2019ve seen 18% of their flows leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ethereum-topped-3250-in-recovery-as-bitmine-stakes-over-2b-eth\/\">Ethereum Topped $3,250 in Recovery as BitMine Stakes Over $2B ETH<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">CryptoPotato<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ETH is in recovery mode, with the asset topping $3,250 in late trading on Monday, its highest level since December 12.
