The Senate Banking Committee released a draft bill Tuesday that would treat XRP<\/strong> (CRYPTO: <\/a>XRP<\/a>), Solana<\/strong> (CRYPTO: <\/a>SOL<\/a>), Dogecoin<\/strong> (CRYPTO: <\/a>DOGE<\/a>), and more the same way regulators currently treat Bitcoin<\/strong> (CRYPTO: <\/a>BTC<\/a>)\u2014as commodities, not securities.<\/p>\n

How Tokens Get Bitcoin-Like Treatment<\/h3>\n

The draft specifies<\/a> that tokens qualify as \u201cnon-ancillary assets\u201d if served as the principal asset of an ETF listed on a national securities exchange as of January 1.<\/p>\n

That means it escapes SEC securities rules and doesn\u2019t need to file the same disclosures other crypto projects do.<\/p>\n

This matters because every altcoin ETF that launched before New Year\u2019s Day just gave those tokens a regulatory hall pass.\u00a0<\/p>\n
