The figure is now 65% higher than non-US entities, according to CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju.<\/p>\n<p>This milestone is based on an analysis of Bitcoin holdings by identifiable US entities \u2013 including miners, MicroStrategy (MSTR), ETFs, exchanges, and government accounts \u2013 compared to known offshore counterparts.<\/p>\n<h2>Institutional Demand Pushes US Bitcoin Reserve Ratio to ATH<\/h2>\n<p>As per the infographic shared by the exec, the ratio of US to non-US Bitcoin reserves has seen a sharp increase as it rose from 1.24 in September 2024 to 1.66 by December 16 and maintained a level of 1.65 as of January 6, 2025. This includes pro-crypto Donald Trump\u2019s re-election and his proposal to establish a national strategic Bitcoin reserve, which coincided with the leading crypto asset\u2019s surge to an all-time high above $108,000.<\/p>\n<p>Institutional interest has also surged, as evidenced by spot Bitcoin ETFs <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/spot-bitcoin-etf-inflows-surge-to-6-week-high-of-nearly-1b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">experiencing<\/a> record inflows and trading volumes alongside MicroStrategy\u2019s ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/bitcoin-price-skyrockets-above-100k-as-microstrategy-announces-latest-purchase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">accumulation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The latter currently holds 447,470 BTC after its latest purchase of 1,070 BTC. The company also announced plans to raise $42 billion over three years to expand its Bitcoin portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Several companies have followed MicroStrategy\u2019s footsteps. Despite the minor slump in the market, small entities in the country remained committed to Bitcoin. For instance, this week, Thumzup Media Corporation, known for its expertise in social media branding and marketing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20250107594653\/en\/Thumzup-Buys-1-Million-in-Bitcoin-to-Diversify-Liquid-Assets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">purchased<\/a> 9.783 BTC for approximately $1 million.<\/p>\n<p>The company entered the Bitcoin market for the first time in November 2024, shortly after Trump\u2019s election win. During the same period, Solidion Technology, specializing in battery materials, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/solidion-technology-announces-strategic-bitcoin-allocation-for-corporate-treasury-302305274.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">revealed<\/a> its intention to invest a portion of its cash reserves in Bitcoin. Genius Group quickly followed, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/ai-firm-genius-group-adopts-bitcoin-as-primary-treasury-reserve-asset\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">rolling<\/a> out a Bitcoin-focused initiative and committing $120 million to the digital asset.<\/p>\n<h2>Global Governments and Corporations Ramp Up Interest<\/h2>\n<p>These developments have sparked interest among non-US entities and governments in building their own strategic Bitcoin reserves. The most prominent example of this is the Japanese venture capital fund Metaplanet, which has set a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/metaplanet-targets-10000-btc-ceo-simon-gerovich-shares-2025-vision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">target<\/a> of 10,000 BTC as part of its 2025 vision.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich recently even <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/seismic-btc-shift-asia-will-follow-us-on-bitcoin-reserve-ceo-of-japans-microstrategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">predicted<\/a> a global rush for BTC reserves if Trump establishes a US strategic Bitcoin reserve. The exec said that Japan and other Asian countries would likely follow the US lead, viewing Bitcoin as a strategic national asset.<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted growing corporate and governmental interest in BTC and added that such trends with principles in \u201cThe Bitcoin Standard.\u201d Gerovich also noted that Trump\u2019s reserve strategy could also inspire third-world countries to adopt Bitcoin to stabilize their currencies.<\/p>\n<p>Governments around the world are already considering Bitcoin as a reserve asset.
