Fourteen months later, that promise is still being kept \u2014 and the checks are getting bigger.<\/p>\n<h2>A Growing Commitment To Open-Source Work<\/h2>\n<p>The firm announced a $233,000 donation on March 4, directed at three organizations that fund BTC open-source developers: <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bitcoinbrink\/status\/2029275385007915139\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Brink<\/a>, OpenSats, and the Human Rights Foundation\u2019s Bitcoin Development Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Combined with last year\u2019s contribution, Bitwise has now put more than $380,000 into the hands of programmers who maintain and secure the world\u2019s largest cryptocurrency network. None of that money came from marketing budgets or corporate goodwill gestures. That growth is what drives the size of the annual donation.<\/p>\n<p>As BITB grows, so does the contribution. They write code, review proposals, fix bugs, and argue over technical upgrades in public forums \u2014 mostly without pay.<\/p>\n<p>The three nonprofits receiving Bitwise\u2019s donation exist specifically to change that. Brink and <a href=\"https:\/\/opensats.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">OpenSats<\/a> offer grants and fellowships to full-time contributors. The Human Rights Foundation\u2019s Bitcoin Development Fund focuses on reaching developers in countries where financial freedom is most at risk.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/x\/wSsWOG8W\/\" width=\"1835\" height=\"951\"><\/p>\n<p>For these organizations, corporate donations of this size are significant. The top crypto asset\u2019s core development has no central authority and no company behind it writing paychecks. Funding comes from donors, and consistency matters.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond Crypto<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bitwiseinvestments.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Bitwise<\/a> has extended the same model to Ethereum.
