The guidance also \u201ccomplements Congressional endeavors to codify a comprehensive market structure framework into statute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) also joined the interpretation, confirming that it will <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptopotato.com\/us-sec-proposes-guidelines-on-how-securities-laws-can-be-applied-to-crypto\/\">apply<\/a> the Commodity Exchange Act to crypto assets.<\/p>\n<h2>SEC: Cryptos Are Not Securities<\/h2>\n<p>The interpretation establishes a token taxonomy covering five categories: digital commodities, digital collectibles, digital tools, stablecoins, and digital securities.<\/p>\n<p>The key takeaway is that most crypto assets are not classified as securities, which is the opposite of the previous Administration\u2019s stance on them.
