Oklahoma Joins Growing List Of States Proposing Bitcoin As Strategic Reserve Asset"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A bill proposing a\u00a0strategic\u00a0<strong>Bitcoin<\/strong> (CRYPTO: <a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/btc\/usd\">BTC<\/a>) reserve\u00a0was introduced in Oklahoma on Wednesday amid a growing nationwide trend of states looking to capitalize on the apex cryptocurrency\u2019s return potential. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What Happened<\/strong>: The proposed legislation, known as House Bill 1203 or\u00a0the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act,\u00a0was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.okhouse.gov\/posts\/news-20250115_1\">introduced <\/a>in the Oklahoma House of Representatives\u00a0by Rep. <strong>Cody Maynard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would allow Oklahoma\u2019s\u00a0pension funds and state savings\u00a0accounts to allocate a portion\u00a0of their assets to Bitcoin, deemed a \u201chedge against inflation.<\/p>\n<p>The State Treasurer could invest funds in any digital asset that has averaged $500 billion in market capitalization over the previous calendar year.
