{"id":8192,"date":"2025-01-17T08:47:15","date_gmt":"2025-01-17T08:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=8192"},"modified":"2025-01-17T08:47:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-17T08:47:15","slug":"xrp-volume-overtakes-bitcoin-on-coinbase-as-u-s-investor-interest-grows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=8192","title":{"rendered":"XRP Volume Overtakes Bitcoin on Coinbase as U.S. Investor Interest Grows"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>XRP, the third-largest cryptocurrency by market value, has replaced bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/price\/bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\">BTC<\/a>) as the most-traded digital asset on Coinbase (COIN), the Nasdaq-listed cryptocurrency exchange that&#8217;s seen as a proxy for U.S. demand.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin retained its position as most-traded crypto asset on Binance, the largest exchange by volume, which is off-limits to U.S. investors.<\/p>\n<p>Volume trends are consistent with the recovery in the U.S. demand for XRP, which is closely linked to blockchain-based payment network Ripple, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/10\/xrp-xlm-and-doge-see-recovery-in-stateside-demand\" target=\"_blank\">as presaged by<\/a> the Coinbase premium indicator a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>Interest in XRP, the biggest gainer following Donald Trump&#8217;s election victory in November, increased after Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/08\/xrp-interest-jumps-as-brad-garlinghouse-meets-with-trump\" target=\"_blank\">met the president-elect<\/a> almost two weeks ago. It&#8217;s also been supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/16\/xrps-bullish-momentum-strongest-since-january-2018-as-futures-open-interest-hits-record-high\" target=\"_blank\">speculation of a spot XRP exchange-traded fund<\/a> (ETF) being approved in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>At press time, the XRP\/USD pair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/exchanges\/coinbase-exchange\" target=\"_blank\">accounted for 25%<\/a> of Coinbase&#8217;s 24-hour trading volume of $6.86 billion. The BTC\/USD pair ranked second, contributing 20% with ETH\/USD in third place, according to data source Coingecko. On Binance, XRP was the second-most traded coin.<\/p>\n<p>Since November, the payments-focused cryptocurrency&#8217;s price has risen over 600% to $3.33, the highest since 2017. The valuation has increased by a third this week alone, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/price\/xrp\" target=\"_blank\">CoinDesk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/XRPUSD\/\" target=\"_blank\">TradingView<\/a> data.<\/p>\n<p>The rally is backed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2025\/01\/16\/xrps-bullish-momentum-strongest-since-january-2018-as-futures-open-interest-hits-record-high\" target=\"_blank\">record futures open interest<\/a> and a spike in the number of large holders.
