Most popular stablecoins, such as\u00a0<strong>Tether <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/USDT-USD\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ticker-link\" data-ticker=\"USDT\" data-exchange=\"CRYPTO\" rel=\"noopener\">(CRYPTO: <\/a><a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/\">USDT<\/a>)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>USDC <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/USDC-USD\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ticker-link\" data-ticker=\"USDC\" data-exchange=\"CRYPTO\" rel=\"noopener\">(CRYPTO: <\/a><a class=\"ticker\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/quote\/\">USDC<\/a>), are fiat-backed, holding cash or U.S. Treasuries to ensure a 1:1 redemption rate.<\/p>\n<p>In a speech at a Bank of Japan seminar, Hern\u00e1ndez de Cos highlighted the potential of stablecoins to improve cross-border payments and provide \u201cconvenient access\u201d to the dollar and other foreign currencies.
