Coinbase Global Inc.<\/strong>\u00a0(NASDAQ:<\/a>COIN<\/a>)\u00a0CEO\u00a0Brian Armstrong<\/strong> backed legislative advancement of the Clarity Act following a reported compromise on the contentious issue of stablecoin yields.<\/p>\n

Armstrong Gives Thumbs-Up<\/h2>\n

Armstrong quoted the X post of Faryar Shirzad,<\/strong> Coinbase\u2019s Chief Policy Officer, about the release of \u201cfinal rewards language\u201d in the CLARITY Act, replying, \u201cMark it up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shirzad drew his comments from a report<\/a> by Punchbowl News, which had access to the compromise text. The report stated that cryptocurrency firms would be banned from offering rewards that are “economically or functionally equivalent” to deposit interest.<\/p>\n

The new text, finalized by Sens.\u00a0Thom Tillis<\/strong>\u00a0(R-N.C.) and\u00a0Angela Alsobrooks<\/strong>\u00a0(D-Md.), directs regulators to propose \u201ca new series of stablecoin regulations,\u201dincluding the development of a new stablecoin disclosure regime and a list of permissible reward activities.<\/p>\n
